Would you cut off your hair?

Cancer is a horrible thing. I lost my mom (my best friend in the world) to colon cancer, and a very good friend of mine to brain cancer. If you can’t donate yourself (either funds or hair), then at least pass this along to others. Blessings to all who are suffering from ‘The Big C’, but not just those with the disease, but their friends and families as well.

Edit: My sister is a survivor.

It was heartbreaking when the friend I lost to brain cancer started losing her hair. She had me cut as much as the rest off that I could, and then my housemate shaved the rest for her. My hands shake too much to be able to hold even an electric razor steady.

Would you cut off your hair?

What is one of the most treasured possessions for a woman?  Most would say their hair, or that the mere thought of losing it would give them the heebeegeebies.

Indya Harrison Indya Harrison

Look at this young woman, isn’t she beautiful?  In my eyes I still see her as a girl, crazy right seeing that she is in her 20’s?

She is my lovely niece and I have known her for over 11 years.  Her name is Indya and she has predominantly been brought up in Barbados where a lot of her family originates from.

Because I live in the UK I have not seen her that often, but it has given me the opportunity to see the changes over long periods of time which are sometimes more distinct than when someone sees one regularly.

I would say Indya is a sweet loving girl, sorry I mean young…

Wow! Just now noticed it’s about twenty minutes to Nov. 7!

I almost messed up again for my NaBlo. Okay, a friend suggested I work on an Origins novel for my Vampires. How they came to exist on Earth or how they came to Earth in the first place. I’d been telling her that I knew how it happened, and she had her own theory, and they were both fairly similar with a few differences here and there. So, she suggested I work on that for my NaNoWriMo this year. I need to check and see what I was working on last year. I only came up with 3,099 words last year, so I really need to take a look at the file. Of course it would be set in my Night Life Chronicles world. 🙂

I might report back on what I discover, and if I’m going to do a serious attempt at it. 🙂

Cover of Amy P. Reed’s novella, “Night Life Chronicles: Beyond Blue Ridge”

Can two people, separated by lies and secrets, find love together?

Wounded in the Vietnam War, Jonathan Gordan returns and finds his brother has disappeared after taking the last summer off from college. Hell bent on getting some answers, Jonathan finds himself deep in the Blue Ridge Mountains in the company of a lovely girl and her strange family.

Laurel Jackson is the alpha female in her pack of werewolves. Life is disrupted when a stranger shows up just as she’s come into season. Being unmated and pursued by almost every unattached male in the area, Laurel is drawn to the strange man. The only problems are that he doesn’t know werewolves exist and her main suitor decides to remove his competition before she chooses her mate.

Despite her secrets and lies, can Laurel find love and satisfaction in the arms of the human that has come into her life?

NOOOOoooooooo! I messed up my NaBlo!

I just discovered that I didn’t post yesterday! *head desk*

I was hurting so bad yesterday, that I spent most of the day on World of Warcraft, the only thing that helps me take my mind off of my pain at least some.

Okay, I’m already behind with NaNoWriMo. I should have reached the 5k mark yesterday, and as of now, I only have 575 words. Yeah, I know, sucky numbers. *sigh* I’m going to have to do some Word Wars, that’s when you either compete with another person to see who wrote the most in a certain amount of time, or against the clock to see how well you did with the challenge. I usually do thirty minutes Word Wars, and in the past I could get close to 2k in two thirty minutes sessions. In order to play catch-up, I’m going to need at least 3k today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. That should get me ahead of where I should be.

I found a really good and informative book called The Secrets 21 Days to a Novel by Michael A. Stackpole. It gives writing exercises that actually make sense, and he’s really good at giving examples. The exercises are very easy to do, too. I’ve already started on them. I recommend this book, if you have trouble with … for example, creating characters. Which is the first few exercises in the book, you’ll find yourself slowly creating and fleshing out a character. 🙂
If you’re interested in the book, plus eleven others on writing, go to http://nanowrimo.org/forums/special-offers-and-greetings-from-nano-sponsors/threads/172241 on the NaNoWriMo forums. You can buy either six books for a minimum of $5 US, or a dozen of them in a bundle. Getting the dozen is more cost effective. It’s only $15 US minimum. I don’t think you can get the last six for another $5 US. Check it out for yourself, and see what you think. 🙂

Yesterday, I found a really good forum on the NaNo site for me. It is for players of World of Warcraft to get together and discuss their novels, World of Warcraft, or anything else that’s on their minds. 🙂 I have a feeling I’ll be over there quite a bit as the month progresses. LOL

I need to go and see if I can at least catch up with some of my word count for the month, before I get on World of Warcraft for the day.

Good luck in whatever you’re doing this month. 🙂

November 2, 2014 – Not much going with my NaNo yet. *sigh*

Well, to date, I have 575 words written for this years NaNo. I’d signed up for 5k this first weekend, and I don’t see how I’ll make it. I’ve spent way too much time on the boards, both over at NaNo and at http://stevethewrimoforum.proboards.com/

It’s almost six in the evening here, and I haven’t gotten much of anything done today. What I need to do is … other than writing, I mean *glares at the audience* … try to get some sort of feel for my characters. I know, I should have done all this in October. *sigh* I do have a possible help though. I bought the book bundle offered by StoryBundle http://nanowrimo.org/forums/special-offers-and-greetings-from-nano-sponsors/threads/172241 if you’re interested, you might want to go check it out. Twelve writing books for $15 US. That’s not bad, and from what I’ve seen so far, there’s several that will be useful to me, and other writers.

And now, I’m going back on Scrivener (a program I highly recommend), and see if I can flesh out some characrers.

Happy writing, everyone.

It’s seven minutes to NaNo here!

It’s almost time to shift things into gear and start working on this year’s NaNo project. I’m not going to make this a long post, since I want to publish it before midnight hits here.

I wish everyone who’s doing NaNo or any other project, good luck in this coming month (November). 🙂

Update: I can’t believe it! I looked at my watch wrong! I still have an hour to go. *head desk* Oh well, it just gives me a little more time to get things straight in my head.
